Brighton based vocalist and songwriter Sabrina Gunston has just released a brilliant new single, ‘Liquid Gold’. The track is the first we’ve heard from the young south coast songstress since the release of her debut EP ‘777’ last year. We caught up with the third-year BA (Hons) Professional Musicianship – vocals student to hear all about the new song and its accompanying video.
📣 LIQUID GOLD VIDEO OUT NOW 📣⭐️ I'm very excited to share this video with you all! A huuuuuge thank you to Max Rose-Fyne, Joshua Halvatzis, Helena Curtis and Zed Ransom for all of your hard work in creating this masterpiece. 🌷*Watch in HD*

“The story behind the track is as simple as finding something or someone that makes you happy”, exclaims Sabrina.
The Brighton-based singer prides herself on keeping her lyrics simple yet broad, with the intent to create themes which can be interpreted however the listener sees fit. “I wanted it to be easy for the listener to translate (the song) into what they want it to mean/be. It’s got the catchy hook in the chorus, which I feel relates to the floaty feeling of happiness.”
The track features tastefully smooth R’n’B production and is accompanied by a suitably luxe gold-themed video, which sees Sabrina cavorting playfully in glossy golden half-light. Here, she reflects on the filming session.
“Shooting the video was so much fun. We hired out a space in Brighton and my friend Max Rose-Fyne got behind the camera and created a masterpiece with the help of his friends Edward Sansom, Josh Halvatzis and Helena Curtis. We did an all-day shoot and had a lot of fun. I think it really helps having such a clever and creative team around you, so that when you do a shoot, you feel comfortable, get it all done within the time slot and are able to have a laugh whilst doing it. Also, as we are all friends, it makes it much more of an easier experience. What’s not to love about that?”
Having recently received high praise from BBC Introducing, Sabrina has also been making waves on the local gig circuit, with performances at some of Brighton’s best-loved venues including a single launch event at The Hope & Ruin and a support slot at The Prince Albert alongside the hotly tipped La Lune. More gig announcements are in the pipeline, so be sure to keep an eye on Sabrina’s socials for updates!
