We thought we’d give back to the BIMM community by beginning to host band nights exclusively for BIMM artists regardless of their experience.
Tinnitus Events began in our third year after my classmate and I decided it was time we started being pro-active and running/promoting our own events. Currently the company is comprised of Raphael and I (Marcus), we both have a passion for music and are ourselves musicians.
We’re both third year Event Management students who saw a gap in the market for BIMM students; there are plenty of opportunities for solo artists to play at events but few for bands.
We thought we’d give back to the BIMM community by beginning to host band nights exclusively for BIMM artists, regardless of their experience. We wanted to provide artists with the opportunity to play on a stage without any pressure.
Our recent event came about quite organically due to a venue (The Finborough Arms) becoming available to us at the beginning of the term – we proposed a monthly event in which we’d bring the venue business and in return they would waive the fee. I’d recommend putting on an event there as the staff are lovely! Once we had a date we began posting on the BIMM Student Forums asking for bands and they came to us!
We are currently in our infancy; we’ve had one event thus far and the second will be on the 2nd of December – however, we plan on running these events every month in the foreseeable future.
We think the best advice anyone could give to an aspiring event manager would be to plan carefully and never rush. Know your audience, know the venue, make contacts, always be polite, and believe in yourself and the event.
We don’t just put on BIMM band nights, we’ve begun to put on two events per month – our band night and a night focusing on heavier music. We’re always open for business and anyone wanting to play can drop us an email at email@example.com and we’ll get back to you!
