What was the inspiration behind your track?

The track was one of those that comes in a flash – it’s fully formed before you have a chance to realise where it came from! We’ve definately been trying to up our energy and tempo in our music so It came from a place of wanting to have a bit more fun with what we’re doing. Lyric wise, I wanted to write something that was innocent – a relationship that doesn’t mean much but matters in the moment.

What did your process involve?

The Process was pretty simple – I literally picked up my acoustic guitar and the song was there, having hummed the riff in my head a few hours prior – but was really fleshed out when we went to record it – the main thing was keeping that energy from the drums and guitar alive. There’s tonnes of layers under the surface of it – I think we recorded about 24 guitar tracks – and Synth lines too, just obscured.

Is there are story behind the track?

A lot of the times our songs do come from a personal place, but for this one it was more of a narrative from a relationship from when I was younger – a lot of times in relationship songs it’s the guy being aloof, insecure, jealous – I wanted to kind of flip that around.

Can you describe your sound in three words?

Temperamental Indie Pop

What’s the best thing about studying at BIMM?

Being able to be around so many amazing musicians really gives everything a little bit of a competitive edge and helps better what your doing as a result, along with so many different styles expanding each others sound. It’s also nice to see the level that people operate at and learn from what they’re doing well.
