Behind the Track: Sugar

What was your inspiration behind the track?

Without trying to be too gloomy, it’s basically about feeling anxious and isolated from people. Though, because it’s quite upbeat you could kind of forget about that though, which I like. You could just dance to it and forget that it’s a bit dark, or you could (hopefully) resonate with the lyrics!

What did your process involve?

I made the song on my laptop first, and did the vocals bit by bit and kept coming back to it. I wasn’t sure what it would it be like taking it to record for the BIMM album but its come back sounding really good.

Is there a specific line that stands out in the song, and why?

Hopefully the main line in the chorus, if it doesn’t I’ve failed!

Can you describe your sound in three words?

Is this ‘dreamy pop music’ a thing? I think I’ll go with that.

What’s the best thing about studying at BIMM?

You get to meet lots of people you wouldn’t otherwise meet, enhance your performing skills and just generally improve as a musician. I’ve really enjoyed my time at BIMM so far!
