What was the inspiration/is there a story behind your track?
The story is loosely based on a night out with the lads where your night isn’t as successful as you wanted it to be but you’re eager to play it through. Basically, our drummer, Eric, got kicked out of a nightclub one night and the woman he was ‘trying to be successful’ with wouldn’t come to him outside. So, we kind of based the track around this story and made a song out of it.
What did your process involve?
Our singer, Andrew, wrote the lyrics and the music at the same time then came down to the guitarist’s (John) apartment. John then came up with the guitar and it only took about one or two rehearsals with the four of us before we had perfected the arrangement.
Can you describe your sound in three words?
Savage, sexy, savage
What’s the best thing about studying at BIMM?
The best part about studying at BIMM is that it is basically the nerve centre of music in Dublin. Before any of us got to Dublin, we hadn’t a clue about how to actually book gigs, where to rehearse, or which venues were around. Within a few months – with a lot of help from our Music Business module – we had gained a lot of knowledge about the music scene in Dublin. Our individual streams also allow to us to improve our instruments which we put into effect in our writing and rehearsal process. The LPW (Live Performance Workshop) and LAW (Live Arrangement Workshop) modules also helped us loads with our stage performance and getting used to actually playing to people.
