What was the inspiration/is there a story behind your track?

I wrote the song during my first year in London; being away from my best friend was very hard at the beginning, especially because she was going through a hard time. The song wants to be a pain-killer and give strength and courage to face difficult moments in your life.

What did your process involve?

The process has been quite a journey itself; lyrics and chords were written in one go on the acoustic guitar. Then I put the song aside for almost 2 years as I was never completely satisfied with the arrangements I was coming up with. I came back to the it only after expanding my music research, experimenting with new genres, and venturing myself into the production world using Ableton Live.

Do you have a favourite line/section of the song?

Definitely the bridge section:

Happiness is a choice, it’s a long way to walk,
no trains nor planes, just tight roads to go.
I promise you, you will never walk alone,
but you will never walk if you don’t make the first step.

Can you describe your sound in three words?

Deep Dark Indie.

What’s the best thing about studying at BIMM?

Studying at BIMM means being in a place where you can be a fully committed musician and push yourself and your creativity. Living in such a vibrant city like London is an amazing opportunity as much as the possibility of being surrounded by many talented musicians from different parts of the world.
