What was the inspiration/is there a story behind your track?
I wrote the song for all of the aspiring singers and musicians out there because I know how hard it is. This industry is tough; it takes a lot of focus, time, effort, money, and it is so competitive. The song focuses on the personal steps that I take to try to make it in this industry, highlighting what I think I can offer the industry.
What did your process involve?
I bought an instrumental online that I felt suited my genre and then just wrote what I was thinking at the time. I then went to Hot Money Studios in South East London to record the song and shoot a one-take video with OSM Vision in the same day. Since then I’ve practiced it with my backing vocalists and guitarist, and we have performed it in a London bar and at Rixonbury festival. We are also going to perform it in Essex, in front of industry judges.
Can you describe your sound in three words?
I would describe my overall sound as ‘Urban-Pop/R&B’
What’s your favourite thing about studying at BIMM?
I am looking forward to networking even more, doing more live performances, more collaborations, performing new genres that might inspire me when I make more original material in the future – and of course graduating as this is my final year!
