What was the inspiration/is there a story behind your track?

The inspiration and story behind “Speed Demon” was literally coming up with a UK version of Eminem’s “Rap God”. I’ve said in countless interviews that Eminem is one of my greatest influences in music; and I wanted to go and prove that I could do what he did but 10 times better, hence how “Speed Demon” was born. What people don’t actually know about the track is that I wrote and produced the original demo of the song during August 2015 (whilst going through a dark time); so whilst it’s a song that is literally full of tongue and cheek, I went through a horrible time in my life when I wrote this but it’s a major blessing to know the amount of doors that this song has opened for me personally and musically.

What did your process involve?

The process involved, from what I can remember, me coming into Brighton Electric at 10am (with Martin Wright, Andy Maclure and the BIMM House Band) and having to sit through the entire process of seeing the track getting made. Now, that session was the LONGEST studio session I’ve ever had, as well as having to sit through; but it made me appreciate the work that the musicians put in to create such a beautiful masterpiece. It definitely took a lot for me to push my ego out of the way because of the fact that they wanted to censor the track to have it go on the album, but as they say: with high stakes come higher rewards.

Can you describe your sound in three words?

If I could describe my sound in 3 words, it would be this: dark, free and rebellious.

What’s the best thing about studying at BIMM?

The best thing about studying in BIMM is the fact that I feel right at home with everybody and I love what I do. The things that I’ve achieved during the 8-9 months of me being at BIMM, whilst being in my first year, is truly amazing. God’s been good to me this year. 2017 has proved to be a great year so far: from performing at the Live & Lyrical, performing at the Concorde2 twice to receiving record label opportunities. All this whilst being in my first year.
