BIMM London’s Andrea Di Giovanni goes Behind the Track of ‘Roads To My Heart’

What was the inspiration behind your track?

The desire to overcome one of the biggest fears of my life; accepting myself for who I really am.

What did your songwriting process involve?

For the majority of this song I used minor chords as I wanted to create a dark atmosphere, reflecting the depth of the lyrics. I remember starting with the chorus then proceeding backwards.

Is there are story behind the song?

The song talks about self-acceptance. Most of the time as human beings we strive for perfection and are never pleased nor satisfied with what we have, so we keep looking for something more and end up losing ourselves.  The only way to embrace who you really are is to stop for a second and realise that what you’ve been looking for is already within you.

Can you describe your sound in three words?

Epic, dramatic, electronic orientated.

What’s the best thing about studying at BIMM?

The possibility to network with people from different part of the world and from different music industry sections – from session musicians to managers or journalists. It’s great!
