Academy Productions

5th December 2016

If you are a fan of DJ Bass music then we have found a brilliant event run by BIMM Brighton students that is perfect for you!

We spoke to Cally Hamilton of Academy Productions to ask her about the monthly event and how the first one went!

What is Academy?

Academy is a monthly club night that provides a platform for up-and-coming DJ talent in bass music, and to provide an opportunity for students of music business to run a club night.

Why did you start up?

Academy was started because opportunities in the music industry are hard to come by, so we wanted to offer something where people didn’t have to be established, but would be considered if they had potential, talent and the right attitude. It’s also founded on the belief that those sorts of talented people are more than capable of providing a night to rival any based on conventional headliners.

Who is Academy?

Cally, Josh, Andrew, Nadia, Jared and Nick.

How did the last event turn out?

The last event was great. We didn’t get as many people as we’d liked but, we were busier than other clubs nearby that night, Those that attended really enjoyed the music. It went surprisingly smoothly, I think that’s down to the time we’d spent preparing.

What can we expect from the next event on December 8th

We’ve revamped the DJ lineup, and the DJs for the next event are higher profile but still definitely emerging talent. The venue, MONO should be ideal for the winter for us as it’s recently changed hands, has Funktion one sound and is the perfect intimate space for what we do. Taking place in the lead up to Christmas we’re very excited about the event and think it’ll be something special.
